We finally got a quote to move my Grey Sticks, the Cliffie bush, the honeysuckle, flutter-guy bushes, and the trumpet vines. I’d figured over $500, possibly up to $1000, but although he said it’d be cheaper to replace most of them, the figure he quoted to move them all was… $340. It’s worth it to me to have my own plants that I grew from babies moved to my real home, so in two weeks, that’s what we’re going to do. I’m thinking I should have the fence boys build me a trellis from chain link; the wind can do its worst, but my honeysuckle that began life as ten little strings mailed all the way from Florida will stand tall, attracting my beloved Mean Little Birds.
I bought P. a SS fridge yesterday, which will be delivered a week from today. We’re going to use the old stove for now, but eventually, I’ll get him a SS glass-top to match the fridge. The carpet cleaners are coming on Monday to do the new house, and we’ll have them do this one when we leave; B. said it’s much better than the Rug Doctor, and I agree. We’re going over today to try to bleach the musty smell out of the storage shed so we can start moving containers of clothes and shoes over. It’s all quite exciting!

It’s 0621h and at long last, Hoce Day has come. We somehow managed to get $190 (I think) back instead of needing a cashier’s cheque for $320, so all we have to do is turn up with photo ID and smiles. I was going to dress normally, but for some reason P. decided he needed to wear “business casual”, so I’m wearing black skinny pants (jeansish, but not jeans), a soft, lightweight sweater from Studio Y in “fig”, black Clark’s slip-ons and that black/shades of burgundy scarf that goes with everything. Does it matter what I wear? Nope, but at some point in the future, I’ll read this post, and maybe I’ll care then, so I’m documenting! Neither of us is going to work today; I just need to stop in and drop off K.’s dress to T., and get the tape gun I forgot yesterday. I don’t know whether we’ll feel like packing today; neither of us got much sleep, and since they’ve had a dog in that house, I think it’s best to shampoo the carpets before I spend a lot of time there. The daughter had her dachshund there the last time I was over, and by the time I left, I couldn’t breathe. I’d probably be okay once the dog was gone, but there have been people walking through with shoes on anyway, and the easiest time to do carpets is without furniture.Â
Okay…time to get makeup on and get dressed to finally get our house!

Here I am, using Perfect Keyboard Free. I hate that the Samsung keyboard doesn’t let me add my own words manually, and sucks at guessing what I meant. So…kitteh, mjah, pwrincess…well, this is still Google. Balls. Back where I started; I didn’t want to pay to have the user dictionary option, and didn’t like the idea that it could use my words and “trust” that it wouldn’t collect passwords or CC numbers. Google’s keyboard input is bearable; I just wish it would auto-complete my weird words as well as normal ones. Meh. I’ll live. Four more days to House (Hoce) Day, so yay.

I thought the Google widget search was too slow. I was right, but that’s because I wasn’t using it correctly. If instead of trying to type in the search widget, I tap the microphone and say, “Okay Google,” it works perfectly! Actually, now that I’m using it, as long as there isn’t too much background noise, the voice recognition feature of the Galaxy S3 is pretty damned good. Of course, I still have to go back in and fix some minor punctuation and capitalization errors, but that takes far less time than it would to sit and type the whole thing. Also, since I have this thing open anyway, we are so far, so good for closing on the house on Friday. This assumes nothing horrific happens between now and then. At that point we should have the keys in our hands and can start moving our stuff. I’m trying not to be too excited until we have actually signed everything and the house is truly ours. Oh my god, English has a lot of homophones and there is no way to tell voice recognition which one you mean to use!

I tried everything but the combination that does work, and I can never remember the goddamned thing, so…Alt + Super, right click. Jesus, why won’t that stay in my head!?

Three new sweaters. Burgundy “grandpa” style cardigan, dressier scoop neck button front with ruched sides in biking red, and a lacy-looking pointelle in oatmeal. Yes, I needed them; on sale for 50% off at Maurices. Plus, I ordered black coated jeans (might be too short), and Levis 524 skinnies in grey that will probably end up dyed anothet colour. Won’t get those until next week. Speaking of dyed, I just did a pair of skinny jeans that I liked but for the light wash denim in a mix of cocoa brown and dark green that I think I like, but they’re still in the dryer.

P. finally got hold of the seller’s daughter, who quoted very reasonable prices for the furniture that I wanted. The fridge is gone–went to someone whose fridge died–but I found a reasonably priced SS one that P. likes, and I think we should get a SS stove to go with it. I’ll apply for a Sears card, then I get no interest if paid within 12 months, which is totally doable. Tomorrow is toast–we’ll be at A. and K.’s from 1600 on–but at least we have something to celebrate!

Closing is on the 1st at 9:00AM! The only change that the underwriter made was to add “Drive” because J. hadn’t written it in the address. We just initial that, and we’re good to go. I potted my Virginia snakeroot for now, but not for long!
