I’ve been busy (yes, sitting on my arse counts as busy if I want it to), and haven’t been keeping up with what little I have been doing. I got some cheap dirt to fill in the new flowerbed. Then, I got some garden soil last week, and mixed it into the cheap dirt in […]

It’s been cool-ish, and going to turn cold for a little while again, but sprang be sprangin’ no matter what! From last weekend…Virginia Bluebells are making progress. I weeded them; the goddamned Indian strawberry (turban, not bourbon) was really getting out of hand. Fuck that stuff…it needs to die. My hyacinths didn’t all come back, […]

It’s turned cold again, but one brave miniature daffy-down-dilly bloomed anyway.

I didn’t even notice until I got home yesterday and saw about 10 of the purple ones had bloomed.  The hyacinths, daffy-down-dillies, and those goddamned lilies have grown a lot since Saturday!

We’ve had some unseasonably warm weather the last week or so, and I’ve taken a few pictures, but hadn’t got around to posting. I cleaned buckets/leaves/spiky balls off the patio last Saturday because it was just too nice to be indoors. I found this little dude asleep under some leaves, so I took him over to […]

Damn, I buy a lot of seeds! I had managed only the Grey-headed Coneflower as far as cold-stratification until today, so I did the rest. This year, I didn’t use soil; I used leftover sand from the fish tanks. It’s supposed to be inert, so I’m hoping I haven’t ruined all of my seeds, but […]

I didn’t do anything really useful except for repotting my Strelitzia and Anthurium but it was so warm I found excuses to be outside. The frogs in the pond were out, enjoying the warmth, and I found Mini-Cletus.

Okay, so it’s only mid-January, but I didn’t want to wait and end up paying more, or not being able to get the seeds I wanted, so I bought some. Actually a lot, if you count the 5000 Scarlet Pumpernickel seeds for the MLBs.

Since Boxing Day is only in the UK and Canada, I guess it must be Wrestling Day here. It was a holiday, since Christmas Day was on Sunday, but I decided to accomplish something because it was so warm, and the ice had melted off the pond. I finally cleaned out the non-hardy floating plants […]

Not that I accomplished an enormous amount, although I did manage to get the neighbours’ side of the fence trimmed. I’m very surprised they didn’t complain; it was pretty jungle-y over there. Anyway, for whatever reason (might have been Stranger Things on Netflix), I didn’t get these posted on Sunday, so I’ll do it now and […]
