We went and got our first Christmas tree for the new house yesterday. It was so strange to not have to worry about the size because we have so much more room! I got the biggest tree I have ever got in the history of Christmas here. We had to get new lights because we have never had a tree this size before and didn’t have enough. I don’t care though, because it looks nice even if it could use a few more ornaments. I got my TV and my Roku box installed in my closet, so I can watch Netflix or Amazon video while I iron. For that matter, I have Plex Media Server installed on my computer so I can stream video or music from my own collection. Now, if I could just find the time or inclination to actually go in there and work, instead of inventing other projects, I would have my ironing caught up! We also brought the bird feeder over from the old house so I can put out mix seed for the birds that don’t eat sunflower, thistle, or suet cake. My Christmas shopping isn’t done, but I have a good start on it, and I’ve spent a lot of money, so I guess that counts!

Edited to add a picture. A crappy picture because those giant windows fool camera sensors, and of course a backlit Christmas tree looks sparse during the day, but it does illustrate the lack of “goddamned tree in the way”, and after the crowding of the old house, I’ll take it! We even have another living room in case we get sick of looking at the tree, though we will have stockings hanging by the fireplace (that we don’t use because wood is messy and I haven’t yet found an insert I like).
