A POX upon the idiot who decided one o’clock in the morning was a good time to test the Emergency Broadcast System! I fell asleep at some point during (whatever forgettable show was on The Science Channel at 2300h) and was most rudely awakened by the EBS. I stumbled in here to shut down the puter and get into bed, but another pox upon IL autumn weather because it was 82F (it wasn’t hot outside yesterday or last night–WHERE DOES THE HEAT COME FROM?) and I had to turn on the air. If I left the air on all night, the fishies might be chilly by morning, so I had to stay up until the house cooled and I could turn it off. By that time, I was wide awake, then FD got up and started coffee, so I figured what the hell–I’ve never been one to refuse fresh caffeine. I’m tired, irritable and apt to be short-tempered, which I believe makes it a grand day to actually answer telemarketing calls. I may even find myself inspired to call SBC, just to say “hi” and remind them that they’ve promised a second time to stop charging us ten bucks a month for the voice mail I asked to have removed TWO MONTHS ago. Customer “service” is such a joke.
