Most of the time, I’m a sarcastic, snarky bitch with little patience for anyone and active dislike for many. Sometimes, though, I’m actually sort of nice, and occasionally, I take it into my head to be really nice. I did that a week or so ago; I sent a Flickr Mail to Eric to tell him the Flickr ID pool was fortunate to have him, and also that he’s my bug idol. He is because he’s an expert, but not so specialised that he knows everything about only one group and little about any other. Also, he combines the knowledge of an expert with the enthusiasm of an amateur, and when he answers a question, he’s pleasant, not “all business” like many experts. I think that’s awesome because it’s encouraging for n00bs. Works the same as in Linux; the Very Serious People on a Debian board might give you the answers, but the Very Nice People on the Ubuntu board will not only give you the answer, they’ll also make you comfortable enough to want to return. Anyway, I sent a little note to Eric, and for a week or so, I didn’t get a reply. He’s not there every day, so I didn’t think much of it. I got a reply yesterday, and I’m glad I took the few minutes to write that note…
Lisa!
Thank you SO much for the sentiments and praise. You made
my day 🙂 I apologize for taking this long to get back to
you, I keep forgetting I can get mail AT Flickr…..Well, feel free to ‘bug me’ any time, at:
bugeric24@yahoo.com
Just put your name and “bug” in the subject line or
something. LOL!Take care, keep up the great work yourself.
Sincerely,
Eric
I made his day, and he made mine because it’s not every day an expert like Eric tells you that you’re doing a good job of making accurate IDs. Now, my kindness well has run dry for the rest of the month, and I may return to being a snarky bitch! 😆
Oh yeah…for when I forget where I put this and what it’s called….
