When P placed the order for my stuff, the CPU fan I wanted wasn’t in stock, so he got a substitute. I didn’t pay too much attention; I read something about Intel 775 on the invoice, but thought, “Okay, that’ll fit AMD 754–he knows what he’s doing”, and when it arrived, I didn’t really look at it. Well, it turns out that that particular fan may very well fit 754, but it doesn’t fit my Abit board. He tried everywhere in MV, but nobody had anything like the sort of fan I want (read: not some lame low end thing that would go in the average office desktop), so he emailed to tell me we’d have to order one. It’s not worth paying express shipping for it (at least not worth it to me), but it does mean I’m not going to get my puter this weekend. The case fans should be here, but I can’t see their getting the CPU fan here by Saturday; even if they shipped it out this afternoon, I still don’t think they’ll make it. Next Monday is more like it. On the bright side, the Cooler Master that I wanted is in stock now, so that’s the one I’m getting. If they won’t let us return the first one, then we’re either stuck with it (and it cost forty bucks), or I can guess what will be the main criteria for P’s choice of board. Feck.
